    Red Chicory

The harvest of red chicory is extremely low and prices have tripled in price overnight as the Dutch Auction commands massive money for the privilege of using this easy option.

    Severe Heat

You need to be aware that this radical heat spell is starting to cause damage to soft leaf and rapid growth summer crops but we are also concerned around late summer harvests such as carrots, potatoes, parsnips onions etc

These will most definitely be affected by this crazy dry spell we are witnessing, we could still be talking about the damaging effects of this heat in November!!

Please take a second to think about all thats in the land trying to grow as hot, hot, hot out there in the fields...

    Bramley Apples

As previously warned the Bramley apple season has come to a close early and there is the very limited amount of Bramley bobbing about the system which will soon be gone.

This leaves anyone wanting to use Bramley a bit of an issue as they won't be back until the new UK apple season lands. Granny Smith and sugar could be used but we also sell solid pack apple and apple sauce if required until their return

    Dairy Trouble

Just a peek at the grass instantly shows signs of grass death as the heat is scorching the land.

It’s the first time in decades that cows are having to be fed winter silage at this time of year due to lack of growth.

This will result in rising dairy prices which will affect butter and cheese in the near future.

    Lowna Dairy - Sad Times

For over a decade we have been supporting the amazing team at Lowna Dairy. Both Trisha & Tom have been true Delifresh ambassadors and produced some very unique and most outstanding cheeses such as the Lowna Crabley & Rowley log.

The time has come to close the doors and for them both to start and enjoy their retirement which is overdue and very well deserved. Both the Crabley & Rowley log will be discontinued very shortly so please be warned it will disappear.

    Potatoes **Future Damage**

With the heat causing issues and immediate danger on softer summer crops we shouldn’t forget about crops desperately trying to grow.

The outlook for this year's potato crops are looking bleak as early lifting is showing signs of a lack of larger potatoes which are graded out for baking potatoes and premium chip.

If the rest of the UK crops once lifted are low in yield and do have smaller than average size differences the potato world for the next 12 months could be extremely troublesome.
