Broccoli was first brought to our lands by invading Romans hence why back in the day we used to refer to it as Italian asparagus due to it being worth considerable amounts of cash.

If left to bolt broccoli will reach maturity and suddenly burst into a beautiful bloom of yellow flowers which taste most amazing and are super sweet.

Trusty Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family, meaning it hangs out in the cruciferous vegetable family. Its name found its way from the Italian word broccolo, which means the flowering top of a cabbage. (Makes complete sense)

Broccoli is extremely high in Vitamin A. This unusual vegetable can help fight cancer, as well as keep your eyes alert and free from potential disease. It also works magic with your skin, works hard to eliminate kidney stones and keeps our bones rock hard not to forget teeth!!!

China is the largest grower of broccoli with a massive 9 million tonnes being produced last year - Although the UK won't see it as they demolish the majority themselves.

President George H.W. Bush famously found himself knee-deep with more broccoli florets in his presence than he could chew on. Late one day Mr Bush shouted out.

"I do not like broccoli, and I haven't liked it since I was a little kid, and my mother made me eat it, and I'm President of the United States, and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli."
