What's Tricky This Coming Week ???

With produce travelling from all corners of the globe there is always something you should stay away from.

This page is designed to ensure you don’t get caught out by listing something on your menu when supply is proving slightly tricky.

Fresh produce revolves around the climate so changes happen frequently, make sure you come back every week to find out what will be difficult during the coming week.

    Viola Flowers

Last week we saw an issue with Edible Flowers as low light levels abroad caused problems with volume growth.

The situation has slightly improved this week and we are nearly back on track but Viola flowers are starting to struggle.

Please be careful as the volume available will be very small.

    Large Leaf Spinach

The trusty Large Leaf Spinach is becoming extremely tight at the moment as we experience low volume.

This is all to do with the cold snap which France is gripped by, fingers crossed things improve shortly but expect a price increase this coming week due to implication with the crop.

Frozen Spinach is a great alternative ( Don't shrug that comment off until you have tried the IQF individual frozen leaf option we sell as it's MEGA)

    Mouli

Often forgotten about and to be honest, we can't remember when we have ever featured the elongated Mouli in Watch Out.

Supply is proving troublesome this week as the roots are starting to struggle with demand.

Prices may start to rise this coming week - It won't break the bank but for those who love Mouli you will need to Watch Out.

    Iceberg Lettuce

The crisp heads of Iceberg lettuce are becoming troublesome as supply is tightening up.

Elevated prices for the coming week may hurt so watch out and try and use an alternative.

How about Flat Butter Lettuce (the forgotten hero of the lettuce world)

    Basil

Fresh basil is struggling as the imported crop has become very scarce and ultra delicate.

As we all should know Basil hates the cold and with the crop being air freight from Kenya the plants are extremely young and bruising very quickly.

We still have a good supply but please be warned as the word from the trees is that it is going to become very difficult this coming week.

    Tarragon

Just like the basil scenario, tarragon is also starting to struggle as worldwide demand is outstripping imported supply.

Please be warned we may run into an issue at the back end of the week with projected supply.

We will, of course, keep you informed.
